Data in the app stays on your iPhone

Your habits, check-ins, history, builds, streaks, shields, badges, settings and the optional name in your profile are stored only on your device. The app’s widgets read a copy of today’s status from storage shared with the app on the same device.

The app has no user accounts, advertising, analytics or third-party tracking tools. It does not send this data to us or to any server we operate, so we cannot see, recover or delete it. You control it on your device. theMonolith does not sync through iCloud. Your device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup, if you use them) may include this data under Apple’s terms.

Notifications

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. Their content is created on the device and is not sent to us. You can change or turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.

Subscriptions and payments

theMonolith Pro is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes your payment and manages your Apple Account as a separate controller. We never receive your name, email address or payment details from a purchase.

To unlock Pro, the app checks your subscription with Apple directly on your device. It receives information signed by Apple, such as which plan is active, when it renews or ends and whether a free trial applies. This information is used only on your device and is not sent to us. Apple provides us with sales and subscription reports that do not tell us who you are. Apple’s own processing is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Crash reports and statistics from Apple

If you have chosen in iOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregated usage statistics. We use them only to fix errors and keep the app stable, based on our legitimate interest in a working app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Apple controls this sharing. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

When you contact us

Writing to us is voluntary. If you email us, we receive your email address, the name shown in your email account, your message and anything you attach. When you tap Get in touch in the app, the draft already contains the app version, iOS version and iPhone model. You can edit or delete them before sending.

We use this data for the following purposes:

  • To answer your question or solve a problem with the app or your subscription. Where your message concerns your use of the app under its licence, the legal basis is the performance of that contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Otherwise it is our legitimate interest in answering messages (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To fix the errors you report and improve the app, based on our legitimate interest in a working app (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To keep the correspondence as a record and, if needed, to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • To handle requests to exercise your rights under the GDPR and keep a record of how we handled them, to meet our legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)).

We do not sell your personal data and do not pass it on to anyone for their own purposes. Our email is provided by Apple through iCloud+. For people in the EEA, iCloud is provided by Apple Distribution International Limited, Ireland. According to Apple’s Privacy Policy, Apple generally stores data in the United States and uses Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA. We disclose data to public authorities only where the law requires it.

We keep a support conversation for up to 24 months after your request has been resolved and then delete it. We keep it longer only if it is needed to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, and only for as long as that is necessary.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, and subject to the conditions it sets, you can ask us for access to your personal data and a copy of it, and for correction of inaccurate data. You can also ask us to delete your data or to restrict its processing in the situations the GDPR provides for, for example when the data are no longer needed for the purpose for which we hold them.

You can object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interest. We will then stop, unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests or we need the data for legal claims. Where processing is based on our contract with you and carried out by automated means, you can ask to receive the data you gave us in a portable format.

To exercise your rights, write to [email protected]. We will reply within one month. In the cases the GDPR allows, this period can be extended, and we will tell you if it is. We may ask for information to confirm that the request comes from you. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

The data in the app is under your control. You can erase it in the app (Me → Erase everything) or by deleting the app.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Slovakia, this is the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic (dataprotection.gov.sk).

Children

theMonolith is made for a general audience. The app itself does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. Messages sent to us are handled as described above.
